Leveraging Our Airbnb - A Day of Rest?

 Lounging around the house

Francis likes to live on the edge

Today was a day without a scheduled event.  I keep a Google Sheets calendar and we also have a travel calendar on the fridge to remind us of what events we have coming up.

We took full advantage of our Airbnb today.  We cooked, and lounged, and watched TV.

We cooked cactus (nopales) for the first time

They are kind of like okra with their slime
if you don't cook them correctly

Add eggs

Add tortillas made in Norwalk CA

Add hot sauce and table cream and bam!  Lunch

We continued to lounge around catching up on Looking Back blogs, researching stuff, calling museums to make sure they honor our ASTC Membership, and walking Francis.

About our museum passes

We purchased an annual membership to The Wenatchee Valley Museum in Wenatchee WA.  The membership was $150 and included both a North American Reciprocal Museum Pass and an Association of Science and Technology Passport.

The NARM pass gets us into 1202 participating museums across North America and a few other places.  These are like the B Tier museums but there are still cool museums on the list including The Walt Disney Family Museum, Denver Museum of Contemporary Art, Palm Springs Museum of Art and many others.

The ASTC Passport gets us into 100s of Science and Technology museums including, The LA Natural History Museum (this is the museum I called to make sure everything was good), The La Brea Tarpits, Las Vegas Natural History Museum, and The National Museum of Nuclear Science & History.  These passes are a great value and buying them through The Wenatchee Valley Museum saves us like $100 on the price of the passes.  If you are traveling the country or just want to go to museums without feeling you have to squeak every bit of value out of our ticket price we recommend these passes. Oh and read the fine print before buying.  There are small rules like, "You can't visit a museum within 50 miles of the museum you chose as your membership museum".

More walking in LA

We decided to check off another list item.  There is a beer bar about a mile from here called Mohawk Bend LA.  They have a HUGE tap list of all California beers and they are in an historic movie theater.

This post is brought to you buy United Independent Taxi.
The only taxi service that is both United and Independent.
Call United Independent Taxi when you
want to ride in an oxymoron.

Mohawk Bend!  They have a cool sign

My beer, Road Rash Hazy IPA by Wagon Wheel Brewing Co

Donna's Beer, Intent to Swing by Topa Topa Brewing

Look, look, look at the taps!

The list

The space was really cool

Had to take a photo of the Historic
Route 66 sign on the walk home

Our walk took us over US101 again but on a different street

Another bit of hanging street art

The rest of the evening consisted of cooking dinner (not pictured), petting Francis, and the last season of Master of None on our complimentary Netflix.

Check out yesterday's post here.
