Penn Valley Dog Park

This morning we took Francis to Penn Valley Dog Park so he could blow off some energy.  He met some nice dogs, put a few dogs in their place, but mostly he sat in the sun.  He loves sitting in the sun.  At one point he was lounging in the sun so we walked over to some shade and he stayed there so I took a photo of him.  Can you find him?

You can just see his ears sticking up to the right of the tree that is starting to turn yellow.

River Market

A bit later in the afternoon we walked down to River Market.  Our plan was to buy something for dinner and see more sights.

It's just that easy!

We went to a Vietnamese Market to look for dinner

We bought Bahn Mi Sandwiches and then went to Strange Days Brewing and ate them with a beer.

They had a Banana, Peanut, Chocolate Stout on tap and I was curious but not curious enough to pay for it so I asked for a sample and got one.  It wasn't good IMHO.

It was a pretty mellow day.  When we got home we made some dinner with a steamed pork roll we bought at the grocery store and finished watching Stranger Things.

The Famous River Market and a New Brewery for Us

River Market

River Market is a short .8 mile walk from our Airbnb.  It's filled with shops and restaurants and has a farmers market on the weekends.  We methodically walked the streets leading to the open air market so we wouldn't miss anything and then explored the market. We bought some fruits and veg as well as a loaf of bread from the bakery there.  I can't compare it to the SF Ferry Building or Pikes Place Market, but it is cool and there is a lot of good things to buy and eat there.  Also it wasn't as close to the river as I had hoped.  I wanted to be able to walk along the Missouri or the Kansas River but that didn't happen today.  It will happen though.  I haven't had my fill of rivers yet.  They are still a unique thing for me because I grew up in SoCal.

Strange Days Brewing

After checking out everything at The River Market we made our way to Strange Days Brewing.  It was super chill and the beers were good.  They had 3 screens showing shows Might Morphin Power Rangers, Kamen Rider (a crazy Japanese Motorcycle Riding Crime fighting insect), and Community.

The KC Streetcar terminates at the River Market and Strang Days Brewing had a screen dedicated to showing its arrivals so you could run out and grab the streetcar after your beer.

After the brewery we walked back through the market and bought a bit of fruit and then stopped by for some ice cream at Betty Rae's.  The ice cream cone was invented in Missouri so we had to get one.

As we headed home, I took a photo of the back of a Big Green Sign on I-35.

The rest of our day included cooking an awesome quick Coconut Curry Ramen from Budget Bytes and watching Netflix.
