Disney World!

Florida

We joined The Resistance at Disney World!

Florida!

Early in October we headed to MSP for our first flight in or out of this airport.  It's about a 3 hour flight from MSP to MCO (Orlando).  Donna packed us nice snacks to help us pass the time.  We flew Delta for the first time in a long time.  It was a good flight and the inflight entertainment system was good.  I ended up watching 3 episodes of The Twilight Zone to prep me for The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

There is a Prince Store at MSP

They have a display of Crop Art at MSP too.

Magic Kingdom

On Monday we hit up The Magic Kingdom and ended up riding quite a few rides.  2 of my goals were to ride Tron and buy a new hat and I did both!  We also rode a bunch of other rides.

I have been wanting to ride Tron Lightcycle Run for quite a while now.  It was AWESOME!

I got me a new Tron Hat!

We rode The People Mover

Susan and I taking a moment waiting for The Liberty Bell Steamboat

I took a lot of photos from the Liberty Bell because, at the moment, Disney plans on getting rid of the Rivers of America and Tom Sawyers Island.

It was a great day at The Magic Kingdom.  We rode Tron, The People Mover, Space Mountain, The Carousel of Progress, Big Thunder Mountain, Pirates of the Caribbean, and saw the New Country Bear Jamboree Musical Sing Along.

Tiki in Florida

That evening we went to a Tiki Speakeasy with Susan.  Roka Hula has good décor, good cocktails, and great food.  We were able to try out a few drinks and enjoy their very good sushi selection.  It was a great place to spend an evening.

Gordon bought a bunch of fun stuff for us to wear before going out.  Sadly he wasn't feeling well so he skipped the evening.

The bar was beautifully lit.

Is it a Tiki Bar if something isn't set on fire?

Or two somethings?

This is a rotating seat.  It's how you would normally get into the speakeasy part.  Sadly, it wasn't working for us tonight.

Brightline to Miami

On Tuesday we took The Brightline "High Speed Rail" to Miami.  The train did get up to 125mph which is pretty good for US rail.  It was a really fun ride and we got to enjoy Miami for the day.

Speeding along at 125mph

Jeff and I ham it up for a selfie

Hello Miami!

We ended up at the Frost Science Museum.  It has a giant shark aquarium that some of us wanted to see and we all got in free with our Science Museum Reciprocal pass.

The aquarium was impressive

Some foreshadowing.  Hurricane Milton hits tomorrow!

We got to ride The Metro Mover from the museum back to the Brightline Station.  It's an automated peoplemover.

We upgraded our trip back to ride first class or premium class as they call it.  It was awesome!

Hurricane Milton

We got home on Tuesday night not knowing exactly when or where Hurricane Milton would hit.  On Wednesday we stayed home and watched The Weather Channel.  Everything was closed anyway so we weren't missing out on anything.  As the the day progressed it looked more and more like the hurricane would roll over us but the eye would pass south of us and it would hit us late at night on Wednesday night.

We spent some time in the laundry room on Wednesday during the 2 Tornado Warnings we went through.

We watched The Weather Channel as the hurricane hit the Gulf Coast on its way to us.

We were able to sleep through Hurricane Milton for the most part.  Early in the morning we heard something banging against the window and figured a shutter or screen came loose but when I checked in the morning it was just the trashcan lid flipping up and hitting the window.

The pool screen took the most damage.  We sat in the backyard on Thursday and watched people clean up their yards and looked at birds.

Later Thursday afternoon we found a place open for lunch and went out.  There were quite a few people over from Tampa staying in the Davenport area to avoid the storm surge.

Disney Studios

On Friday we had reservations for Disney Studios.  All of the parks were closed on Thursday.  It was the least crowded the park has been since I can remember.  We had a great day of riding rides and seeing things we haven't seen before like Rise of the Resistance and the Star Wars themed bar.

Oga's Cantina is a Star Wars themed bar that is amazing.

On the way out we were stopped by Storm Troopers.

We were able to finally ride Rise of the Resistance as well.

We had lunch and a beer at Prime Time Cafe.

No Capes!

We also got to ride Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway again.

We wrapped up the day with a ride on The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.

Saturday was packing day.  We had one more lunch with Susan and then headed to the airport.  The flight was quick and easy.  It was a great trip and we can't wait to go again in 2026.

That's it for today.  If you missed, Tilted Tiki in MN, check it out.
