Local Groceries You Don't Find At Home

 Baton Rouge, LA

You have my attention Fish Fry!

Local Groceries

Part of the fun of travel is seeing how different things are from what you are used to.  We would go to grocery stores on vacations before we retired just to see what they were selling but now that we are doing a lot of cooking we actually get to buy some of the things to try them out.  Today we went to Albertson's to stock up for a few meals and a bunch of things caught my attention and so I thought I would share them here.  "Slap Ya Mama" Fish Fry gets the award for getting your attention in a sea of other fish fries.

We couldn't wrap our head around how many sausages there are on offer at local grocery stores.  Albertson's has a ton but I think the Matherne's Market we went to had even more.

Just the end cap had more sausage than we were used to seeing

The sausage party was bigger than I could capture in this photo.  I am sure we will try a few at some point.

A wall of Crab Boil seasonings

The Dried Bean and Rice selection was HUGE!

Dried mixed beans and seasonings for your 10 bean soup

Mayocoba Beans!  Never heard of them. We will tell you how they turn out!

Apparently we are back in Whataburger territory.  Never been!

Cajun Pasta

Jambalaya and Gumbo Mix

Roux ready to use!

Local Acadiana Honey.

I thought I took more photos but I guess I got caught up in the exploration of it all.  I am sure we will try local flavors both at home and out and about and I will be sure to share to share them with you.

That's it for today.  If you missed yesterday's post you can find it here.
