Skating The Ribbon

 Chicago, IL

I played with my time lapse to shoot an entire loop on the Ribbon

Maggie Daley Skating Ribbon

Today we returned to the Skating Ribbon in Chicago.  We last visited it during a rainy 2 day stay in September of last year.  That stay made us want to come back here for a month and the Skating Ribbon made us want to skate it when we did.  Last month I found rollerblades at a thrift store.  Donna wasn't so lucky so she bought some new ones in Kentucky.  Today we fulfilled our dream of skating The Ribbon.  We still dream of Ice Skating The Ribbon but that will have to wait.

We carried our skates in bags on the L.

There are lockers you can rent. If you have your own skates, skating is free!

In the middle of the ribbon there is rock climbing.

There is a snack bar but they didn't sell beer.

On the way home we happened upon a festival so we stopped and checked it out.  There were booths and African Dance Groups.

Seats on The Blue Line

A great view from the California Station.  You can see Willis Tower (formerly Sears Tower) in the background.

Taqueria Moran

We had dinner at Taqueria Moran.  It's a Mexican place that was recommended to us while we were at a brewery in St. Louis.  It was a fantastic recommendation.  It's probably the best Mexican Food we have had since moving from SoCal in 2007 (not counting our visits to SoCal).

Pinches Tacos!  Loosely translated to F&%$ing Tacos.

Logan Arcade

After dinner Donna and I went to Logan Arcade to play some pinball.  Logan Arcade was voted the best pinball arcade in the US 3 times.  It's a great place to play pinball but the best?  Not sure about that.

Thankfully there wasn't an emergency.

It was a busy full day.  We have to keep a schedule if we are going to get through everything we want to get through while we are here.  If you missed Becoming Locals in Chi-Town check it out.  We got our membership cards.
