Contemporary Art Center of Cincinnati

 Cincinnati, OH

This was in the kids Creativity Center.  All of the kids were at school so we took advantage.

More Art in Cincinnati

Today we walked to The Contemporary Art Center here in downtown Cincinnati. It's another free museum, free for all.  As you enter the first thing I noticed was the diagonal black staircase leading to the 2nd floor. Each floor gives you cool views of this staircase and it really makes the building feel cool.

Those stairs I mentioned

6 pieces from the Prayer Rug Series - Baseera Khan

Another piece from Baseera Khan.  The Reflection looked like a video.  It was really cool.

Robert O'Neal was a local artist that did a lot of good for the art community in Cincinnati, especially the Black Art community.

We The People Are... - Robert O'Neal

On the 2nd landing I saw some street art across the way.  I wondered if the artist knew their art was going to be viewable from the museum.

The 3rd floor was all about Art and Nature.  The Piece on the left with the plants is by Rashid Johnson.  We have seen his work at another museum on our trip.  It's hard to remember where we have seen different works because all of the museums blend together in your mind after a while.

This is actually a reflection of the room above from a very dark photograph.  Donna had the idea for this shot and I liked it.  It's a little mind bending.

Massagers, artificial plants, and speakers, with sound - Rachel Youn  This area was really cool.  She used old massagers and stripped them down so that she could attach plants to them.

More shots of the stairs

In Transit - Emily Hanako Momohara

The top floor hosts the Creativity Center.  A place where kids can interact with and create art.

The Giant Robot outside the museum.  Metrobot - Nam June Paik

That was it for today.  If you missed Pinball in Kentucky at a Comic Book Shop check it out.  We drove to Kentucky to play pinball on immaculate machines.
