Tallinn Estonia is Awesome

We wrapped up our trip with a visit to Tallinn Estonia. The airfare was a bit cheaper than flying out of Helsinki and we got a sweet ferry ride from Helsinki to Tallinn.
The ferry terminal in Helsinki was a short tram ride from the hotel made longer due to a vehicle parked on the tram line. Come on people!

The terminal was modern and comfortable with multiple ferry companies offering regular departures.
Suomi, or Finland as we call it, won gold in the men's world hockey championships while we were here. There was a celebration and everything.
We boarded and found this booth in the front of the boat. On the weekends we hear that sometimes there is no available seating for stragglers so we were excited to get seats.

The stage had a children's magic show that we enjoyed partially due to our beer and jägermeister special. Hey we are on vacation!
After the show we explored the rest of the boat. It's a 2 hour journey.
When we got off the boat it was a short walk to the tram stop.
Our hotel is right in the old part of town which is an intact 13th - 16th century medieval walled city.

Our room was built around the wall and has some of the wall in our room!

This is a view from our window with the wall that's in our room room extending out across the street.
It was pretty cool, so cool I forgot to take photos. Thankfully Jeff took a few and gave them to me.
That evening was the evening we went to the Depeche Mode Pinball Bar, you can read all about it here
The next morning we walked around Old Town and enjoyed everything. It was such a cool scene and it wasn't overrun with people.

We headed right up the steps to the top of the wall. It was nice of them to put in steps as the wall was built to keep people out.

There were tons of sweet looking places to drink but we were going to an Estonian brewery a little later.

Old Town had a lot of consulate buildings.

It was such a beautiful day and everything was so awesome. We all just kept saying how cool it was.

Jeff posing in front of the German Consulate. Also it was early June so pride month was just getting going. It was nice to see all of the inclusion here.

The views at the top were amazing.

A creepy statue looked down on me.

And then!

I enjoyed the street art too.

Our walk took us to a guitar store and I was intrigued by the foot pedals.

After walking almost every street in old town we headed to a fantastic brewery.

Põhjala Brewery & Tap Room is a highly rated brewery with a great barrel aging program.  We really enjoyed our time there.

The walk back to the hotel was a bit silly due to the beers

We had dinner reservations for a great restaurant in Tallinn.  It was in Old Town.

I guess we didn't take any photos of the food.  Rest assured, it was delicious.

The following day we had a couple of plane rides and then we were in Chicago.  We spent the night next to the airport and then took an 8 hour Amtrak ride back to St. Paul where my sister, Sophie, was waiting to pick us up.  It was a long journey home and it was nice to have a ride the last few miles.

Now we are home and trying to figure out what normal life is after 3 months on the road.  I am sure we will get there. We do have 2 trips planned later this year and I will be working overtime to try to build pinball points to try to make State Finals.  If I do, I am sure you will see it here.

I hope you enjoyed reading about our adventures.  If you want to start from the beginning of this blog where we left Seattle and went on the Great American Road Trip for 2.5 years feel free to start here.  There is a nice link at the bottom of each post that will lead you to the next post.
