Back to Chicago, For A Month!

 Chicago, IL

,9 Miles from Indianapolis Motor Speedway at Daredevil Brewing

On The Road Again

Today we put Cincinnati behind us and headed north-west towards Chicago.  We have already done I-65 between Indianapolis and Gary IN (the most direct route to Chicago) so we headed a bit more west than most would so we could travel new highways and gather new counties but first we stopped off in Indianapolis for lunch.  Donna picked out Daredevil Brewing because they were just off our planned route, had food, and had a patio for Francis.  Daredevil Brewing is right on the main road just down from the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.  We parked right across the street from AJ Foyt's parking spot (a very famous racecar driver and team owner).  If was fun being so close to a place I have seen on TV and known about for a long time.  I used to be a big racing fan.  We even got to drive right by the speedway after lunch.

The rest of our drive took us over and up western Indiana and then into Illinois and on up to Chicago.  We arrived at our Airbnb and didn't know what to expect in regards to parking and unpacking.  It's always a bit of a craps shoot in big cities.  Luckily there was a zone right in front of the place we are staying that allows parking Sunday only.  You have to move your car by 6am Monday so no one was using it.  We parked and unpacked easily and then found what we hope is legit legal street parking about a block away.  I guess we will find out tomorrow if we are correct.

Here is our drive mapped by GPS.  I use this so I can mark the highways we travel on Travelmapping.net

The Blue Counties along the Red Arrows are the new ones this year.  We stuck pretty close to the path we took last year (in purple) without repeating too much.

Getting Settled

After unpacking the van I ran over to DeBorincuba to grab us some dinner before they closed.  The food was pretty good but I hear there is a better Cuban place near us so we will try that one too.

Feed Me!

When we arrive at a new Airbnb we have to rearrange stuff to fit our needs.  We try to be good guests so we take photos of things so we can put them back to the way they were when we leave.

Before rearranging (don't worry, we found a place for the 4 cutting boards).

After!

We unplug scent devices and move them along with knickknacks to make room for our stuff.

Our Airbnb is really amazing.  It's in a cool walkable neighborhood with a lot to do.  We can also walk to an L Train and explore other areas.  There is also a bus that stops right out front.  Our place is also HUGE!  It has 3 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, and a backyard.  The kitchen is fantastically huge, and there are 2 big rooms, the living room and the dining room, that give us more than enough room.  I am very happy with this stop so far.

Later that evening I walked over to Logan Arcade to play some pinball.  It is voted one of the best places to play pinball in the US.  The machines are in great condition. I had a great game on Deadpool.

Stern has a whole leaderboard system that Logan Arcade uses.  My game was good enough to put me in 2nd place on Deadpool for the June Leaderboard.  It's only June 5th so I am sure I will move down that list by the end of the month.

That's it for today!  If you missed the previous post, Kentucky State Park Mini Golf, check it out.
