Free Concert in the Garment District and Casual Animal Brewing

 Kansas City, MO

Donna and Francis listening to Live Music 2 blocks from our Airbnb

Live Music in the Garment District

On the third Wednesday of the month during the summer, there is free live music in The Garment District from 11:30am to 1pm.  It's only 2 blocks from our place so we slept in, did our morning routine, and then took Francis for a walk and stopped by.  Max Groove is a local musician and he has an internet Jazz Radio show a couple of times a week.  We could smell the food truck from a block away so we looked to see if anything looked good.  It did so we split a KC Melt (BBQ Pulled Pork w Coleslaw and Cheese on Texas Toast) while listening Free Live Jazz Music on a Wednesday morning.

New Brewery

When we were done with free music we walked Francis back to the Airbnb and headed to the KC Streetcar.  We were going to Casual Animal Brewing.  We are enjoying the KC Streetcar.  It seems pretty reliable with service every 10-12 minutes and is much more reliable than the busses.  The walk from the streetcar to the brewery was short and a new walk so there was new things to take photos of.

This is a distillery that looks pretty cool.  We hear they have a nice bar.

The service was great and they had a nice variety of beer styles available

They had merch so I bought a shirt that says KC on it and there is a bird on it too!

The space was great and very comfortable.

There was a lot of cool art on the walls as well as this mural

And they have Shuffleboard!  We played for quite a while.  It's been a while since we have played.

Lots of plants too.

Our stop at Casual Animal was great.  We had a really nice time sitting amongst the plants, drinking a beer, and playing Shuffleboard.  On the walk back to the Streetcar we stopped by Ibis Bakery.  We took the streetcar all the way to the River Market and bought a few veggies that we need for a recipe and picked up about 3 pounds of tomatoes for $1.  There is a place that has their produce that is getting long in the tooth for sale for $1.  They fill a bowl and you just pick your bowl and pay $1.  It's a great deal if you eat the food right away.  When we got home we made BLTs with our leftover Bacon, our new loaf of bread, and our $1 tomatoes.

Ibis Bakery

Do you see what happens when you have a great loaf of bread and a terrible bread knife?  You get an ugly delicious sandwich!

It was a chill day.  Nice to take it easy after the fair.  Later in the evening we got a notice that our Panama City Florida Airbnb reservation had been cancelled.  This caused some panic and quick looking for a place to stay.  It's not terrible because there was nothing really special about the stay except that it was really cheap so we had booked about 5 weeks instead of 30 days.  We haven't found anything yet but it's still more than 2 months away so we will find something.  There is something I learned as a Producer that stuck with me, If a plan can't change, it isn't a viable plan.  I am sure we will figure it out.

That's it for today's fun and excitement.  You can read about yesterday's $2 Hand Dipped Corn Dog at the Missouri State Fair here if you want.
