Urban Putt and More Downtown Adventures

 Denver, CO

Donna lining up an important shot.  Spoiler, they are all important!

Urban Putt Denver

Today we went to Urban Putt Denver.  We have been to their other location in San Francisco and enjoyed it so we thought we would give Denver a try.  We got there at opening as we do and recruited two of our Disney friends to join us, Bob and Julie.  We started off on the 19th hole with a happy hour cocktail and then headed to the links.  You pay for your 9 or 18 holes and they give you a token so you can choose your ball from a vending machine.  They had 4 colors and we had 4 golfers so it all worked out.

We started at hole 10 and played to hole 18 and then started at hole 1 and played to 9.  The course is a mixture of iconic Denver locations, whimsical made up locations, interactive video game golfing, and golf ball maze board races.  The mixture of play styles keeps it fresh and probably evens the playing field a bit.  It isn't all about just who can putt the best.

Urban Putt is housed in a the old Denver City Cable Railway Building.

This was the Denver International Airport hole.  The optimal spot to shoot it into kept changing.

Me posing with Tiny Blucifer, a miniature of the giant version in front of the airport.  Read about the tragic story of the artist being killed by his own art here.

Duck Shoot was a one and done hole if you got it into the moving duck.

There was a hole based on Red Rocks Amphitheater.

The Historic Trolley and Trolley Building

We were allowed to take our drinks with us on the course so I propped mine up and took a photo.

The State Capital complete with a windmill blade.

The iconic Rocky Mountains

This hole was easier if you got it into a higher value hole on the Skee Ball Game.

One of the 2 "Video Game" holes

On this hole you shot it as high as you could up the mountain and it would come down a mining cart track

A space hole

On the last hole of each of the 9 hole courses you shot your ball into a fortune teller and it took your ball and gave you a fortune.  I didn't know I was thinking small.

More advice than fortune for Donna

They had a full size Trolley for special events.

Our score card.  I came in last on our first 9 holes, 1st on our 2nd 9 holes, and 1st overall!

After golf it was still happy hour with discounted snacks so we sat down and ordered some appetizers to share.  It was a really fun time catching up and playing mini golf.

Our snack spread.  The Chicken and Waffle Skewers were really good.

The restroom doors were covered in fake turf

More Downtown Adventures

After golf and snacks it was still only 6:30 so we decided to walk through Downtown Denver to an Art Deco bar Bob had been waking to go to.

Neon

I think this street was named by Fozzie Bear.

A good quote by Bowie

Bob took us to Cruise Room in at The Oxford Hotel.  It's a beautiful Art Deco bar shaped like a wine bottle.  We chatted about old Disney days while we sipped our craft cocktail.  It was really nice.

Murals, neon, and a juke box in Cruise Room

Cheers!

The lighting was very red

My Last Word cocktail was delicious

The original urinals are comedically large

As we were finishing up at Cruise Room, the Colorado Rockies were winning their firsts game in the Stanley Cup Finals so we decided to go out and join the revelers as they rushed to make their transit connections.

Everyday is a new adventure.  We need to rest up for tomorrow's.

Yesterday we went to Meow Wolf and I took a lot of photos.  See them here.
