Friends and Family

 Long Beach, CA

Visiting Friends and Family

Today was filled with things that either don't photographically belong in a public blog or aren't really that interesting to read about.  Feel free to take the day off.  😁 Our morning was filled with coffee and Francis.  Later in the day we took the car out of its tight spot and drove to Seal Beach.  We stopped by Rite Aid to get our free Covid Tests.  We aren't sure if we can get them with our insurance after we leave California.  Next we stopped by Trader Joe's to pick up a gift for our next stop.  Next we stopped by Leisure World to visit Oma (Grandma in German) and my Aunt Cindy.  It was great to see them and Oma is looking great for 97!  They were a little bummed we didn't bring Francis.  They were looking forward to seeing him.  After our visit at Leisure World we had some extra time so we made a quick stop at Ralph's Super Market to get some supplies to make dinner later this week and then headed on to Long Beach.  We were meeting our Disney friend Scott there.  He recommended that we stop by Taqueria La Mexicana #2.  We haven't had Mexican Food, other than the food we have made, since we got to SoCal.  We took our Torta, Burrito, and Taco to go and met Scott at a bar close by.  Tuesday is 2 for 1 night so we picked the right night!  It's a locals bar so we were greeted when we entered.  We found Scott, grabbed a drink, grabbed a table, and caught up.  The food was LEGIT!  Thanks for the recommendation Scott!  It was a really nice evening of catching up, talking about the past, and making plans to meet up again in the future, but not really one where you take pictures to share publicly.

The Taqueria is a converted house

It had really great murals on the wall

Did you know I played the accordion as a kid?  It's in storage now

Sticker culture is strong here

Our drive back was easy.  Traffic was done by the time we were done.  When we were putting the car back into it's tight spot, I had the idea to take a photo.  It isn't a great photo, but it does tell a story.  A story of a large mini van and a narrow fenced entrance.

This is how much space was between the fence and the mirror folded in.  There was about twice this space on the right side.  It's tight but we are getting good at going in and out of the tight spot.

This is how the Airbnb Listing shows the parking situation.

We are back to doing interesting things tomorrow.  We still have a week left and we have at least 2 more museums and some more LA exploration to come.  When we leave next week, we are headed to Arizona and Utah to experience some hot National Park Action!

Check out my LA Street Art post from yesterday here.

  1. How did your playing the accordion start? Did you pick the instrument based on your own interest, or were you voluntold by mom and dad?
