Bergen to Flåm to Oslo

Over the last two days we have taken a ferry though The Sognefjord and The Aurlandsfjord to Flåm and then 2 very scenic trains from Flåm to Oslo.

It all started at 8am on Monday. We walked to the ferry port and then found seats for our 5h40m voyage.
We got comfortable and then our ferry was off and running. It was a very pleasant and calm journey through some incredible areas.
There was a fixer upper just outside the harbor.
They made a really big deal about this floating bridge that is one of the worlds longest. It's actually #7 and 4 of the top 5 are in Washington State including #1 that we have been over many times, but never under.
This was pretty much my day except when we were doing this,
It was surprising how fast it was compared to the ferries in Washington.
We made a slight diversion to see a waterfall.
The water was an amazing aquamarine color.
Flåm is at the end of The Aurlandsfjord. The water at the port is so glassy. All of the boats that come in go slow and many of them, while we were there, were electric so it's a really quiet place.
Our hotel was a very short walk from the ferry.
The Fretheim Hotel is the only hotel in the area and it's right next to the train station we are departing from tomorrow so that's where we stayed.

The room and bed were very small but the view was great.
After getting settled we went to the Flåmsbana Museum. It tells the history of this historic railway and will sell you stuff on the way out.
Some motorcycle that you can ride on rail tracks. There wasn't a ton of info about some of the displays so we just enjoyed looking at stuff and not learning anything.
This is a famous travel ad from 1925. Ski up a hill and show the sun your junk!
Some of the stuff you can buy on the way out.
The Mall of Norway is way smaller than the Mall of America.
After exploring the area we got cocktails and headed up to a cool observation area in the hotel.
The next morning we were up early. We ate breakfast and then made our way to the train station.

We arrived before they were letting people on so we talked to some people in line that did the journey yesterday. We were told to sit on the right side of the train.

We were ready!
We chose the last car available and for a hot second we were the only ones in the train car. We ended up sharing the car with about 5 other people.
The trip is an hour long, leisurely journey through beautiful landscapes.
Some train inception
At the halfway point there is a short section of double track so the trains can pass each other. We had to wait a few minutes for the other train.
We stopped at a waterfall viewing platform and everyone got out to see it.
When you pass through tunnels, the monitor shows scenic views and gives info.
We passed through cool snow sheds.
Soon we were at Myrdal Station, the end of this line. We had about 50 minutes to explore the station before our Oslo train arrived.
Wes Anderson would be proud.
Our train arrived right on time and we had assigned seats for our 5 hour trip to Oslo.
The trip took us right through Finse, Norway.
If you are unfamiliar with Finse, you probably saw it in a little movie called Star Wars The Empire Strikes Back. It was a filming location for Hoth, the Ice Planet.
This is what I looked like to my phone while going through the Hoth part of the trip.
Soon we were at lower elevation and we even got a fresh air stop.
The trip was just so scenic, I couldn't capture it all.

We arrived in Oslo a few minutes early and made our way to our hotel. We are staying 2 nights in a different part of town than last week. Our next trip will be Thursday and it will be almost 7 hours to Stockholm and we didn't want back to back long travel days.
