Spoiler, Flensburg is pretty epic in our opinion.
Why Flensburg?
So, we are in Flensburg, the northernmost city in Germany, the city that used to be Danish, the city that was, for a short time, the Nazi Headquarters, and a city with fewer than 100k residents when we have mostly been staying in big cities. How did we get here? Well our trip plan largely consists of linked cities by train. Our stay in Bielefeld was only because of the pinball tournament. Our next thought after Bielefeld was Hamburg but we passed on it because it was more money than we wanted to pay for what it appeared to offer. I am sure it's great, but for us, Flensburg was 6 of one and Hamburg was half a dozen of the other, so we decided to go with the cheaper option. We had originally planned on more time in Copenhagen, but that place is really expensive and the train ride would have been very very long. So we chose Flensburg.
Don't worry, when locals ask where we are from and we answer, they say, "Why are you here?" too.
Is Flensburg any good?
Heck yea! Why?
There are blinking yellow signals to remind cars about pedestrians and bikes. On that note, the drivers here are so safe and not aggressive to pedestrians. It's so refreshing.
The children on their advertising openly mock you. I don't know what this says but I recognize Hello Duh, and I think Ja is laughing like Ja ja ja.
They have a hitching hook for your dog while you shop, (but also we have seen plenty of dogs in restaurants and other places).
