The Clark County Museum

 Henderson, NV

You can't lead a fake horse to water but you can try to feed it rocks.

Learning About Clark County

Today we did the 30 minute drive to Henderson, NV to visit The Clark County Museum.  The museum costs $2 and is TOTALLY worth it if you have the time.  The exhibits go from early settlers trying to steal land from people that were already here all the way to present day in the museum then you can step out to their nature area and visit preserved historic buildings from the area.  There is also a ghost town that we didn't visit because we had already gotten our $2 worth.

Dire Wolves lived in the area before they all died.

A Camelops Skull.

Jon, destroyer of primitive toys!

Historic gambling machines

I wonder how many swizzle sticks I threw away before I started saving them?

Place your bets!

A cool looking early black jack machine.  Now I want to go to a retro themed casino!

The last part of the museum leans into McCarran, Now Harry Reid, Airport.  The name change is talked about but they don't mention that the name change was overdue and that Pat McCarran was racist, xenophobe, and an anti-Semite.

Check out this awesome flight attendant outfit from Western Airlines in the 80s.  Flight attendants only wore this uniform on inbound flights to Hawaii from the mainland.

I didn't get any info on this uniform but I thought her hair looked sultry so I snapped a photo.

This isn't DB Cooper.

Outside, they had a nice water feature that brought in the birds.

There was a cool locomotive on display.  We knew what 0-6-0 meant from our visit to The B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore.

Check out this cool cocktail shaker!

That cool Caterpillar logo!

Check out this awesome Union Pacific Dining Setting!

How do creepy dolls like this end up as kids toys?

We visited different houses from different eras from the area.

They were furnished with period pieces

Looks like a party!

We also went into an historic wedding chapel.

Let me tell you about life on the road!

That's it for today.  It was a great museum and you should go.  If you missed, A Food Truck and a Speakeasy, check it out.
