Atomic Stray Pirate Crab

 Las Vegas, NV

Cheers from Atomic Liquor

Stray Pirate

This afternoon, after doing some grocery shopping, we walked over to Stray Pirate.  It's a new Tiki Bar (some people might disagree) here in Vegas.  They opened back in October so the decorations are fresh and new and the drinks are are really solid.

The "windows" are video screens showing underwater scenes that are synced from screen to screen.

The Stray Pirates are all dogs

If we had room...

Atomic Liquor

After Stray Pirate we took The Deuce to Fremont Street and walked past buskers and tourists to Atomic Liquor, one of my favorite beer bars.  It was just a quick stop this time.  We split a pint and enjoyed Atomic when it isn't a crowded madhouse.

The neon sign is beautiful at night and you can sit under it on a nice night.

The bar celebrates the Atom Bomb testing that happened just 65 miles from here.  People would sit on the roof (maybe not this roof) and watch the mushroom cloud.

Anthony knew what's up!

Gotta take a selfie

Dinner at The El Cortez

After Atomic, we walked back to the Container Park and looked around a bit to kill time and then we walked across the street to The El Cortez where we have dinner reservations at Siegel's 1941, but first we explored The El Cortez, the  2nd oldest hotel in Las Vegas.

Get your bets in on where Sky Lab will land when it falls out of orbit.  It fell on July 11th and paid 1/1.

The Las Vegas sports teams have seem huge popularity including licensing deals with slot machine makers.

Dinner at Siegel's 1941

When we arrive at a new city Donna subscribes to the local online paper.  You can usually get a month intro deal for $1 or so.  She learned that Siegel's was having their annual Stone Crab meals so we booked a reservation and went for a fun treat.  We haven't had stone crab since we were in (or on?) The Florida Keys.

I ordered the stone crab

Donna got the prime rib, and we did splitzies

I encouraged Donna to play with her food for a photo opportunity.

That was our adventure for today.  If you missed Ramen, Tiki, and Kiss, check it out.
