Exploring The Crosstown Concourse Area
Today we took a Lyft over to The Crosstown Concourse. It's a converted Sears Distribution Center and Retail warehouse. Sears left the building in 1983 and it was left abandoned for 20 years. It received a full renovation in 2015 and features shops, open spaces for performances, art, bars, and restaurants. It's a really cool space and worth a visit. We went to visit a new brewery, a pinball venue, a bar, and to watch The award-winning Memphis Central High School Jazz Band preform in the atrium. It was one of those nights where I end up pausing and thinking, "I can't believe this is my life now, in Tennessee, listening to great music and drinking an amazing cocktail in a cool space on a Friday evening."
The great evening started out with us not knowing if we were going to be able to do anything. A few traffic lights were out on the way and when we arrived we noticed Flip Side was dark. The power was out due to winds. We decided to give it a chance and walk to Crosstown Brewing just incase they were on a different grid and they were. The lights were on and the place was hopping so all was well.

The lights are out and nobody is home! |
We just happened to catch a Bourbon Barrel Aged Stout Release. It was good but not great. |
The Concourse was filled with art |
There was a cool area where they had before and after renovation photos |
We knew we found the right place when we saw the band warming up |
We got to play an Elvis machine in Memphis! Appropriate! |
The Art Bar was really cool and the drinks were solid. |
The sunset was bringing everyone from the bar to the window to see it. |
The band was really great. |
Some of the industrial elements were left during the renovation |
I decided to go as high as I could. Some of the floors were closed to the public. |
After the live music we stepped out to see if Flip Side had power and the Neon told us yes. |
It was a really fun night. We will probably go back to Art Bar and Flip Side. If you missed my previous post you can find it
here.
