Public Transit and Two Breweries

 Austin, TX

Capital MetroRail

Today we road Capital MetroRail to a couple of breweries.  There is one line of rail connecting some areas of Austin.  It's still early days for this rail system. It opened in 2010 and saw great ridership before the pandemic.  They are still struggling to get back to their pre-pandemic numbers.  There is a new station in the works right outside of the Austin FC Stadium.  Hopefully this will increase ridership on game days and people will realize how great rail is.  Future expansions are being talked about but would require another referendum to be built.

The train ride was quick and comfortable.  We were on it on a Saturday at mid day so there weren't many people on it but when we were returning there were quite a few people heading into downtown for a night on the town which was great.

It was a fun day of riding transit and trying beer.  If you missed yesterday's post you can find it here.  We have less than a week here in Austin and there is still so much more to do!
